We sail an 88 M15 #407. I had always thought the keel was lead, I had thought (assumed) the 15's switched from cast to lead the same time the 17's did in 1987. Others on the list had suggested to use a magnet against the keel to check as a which ballast material you had. I was surprised to see on our 88 model that the magnet had an attraction to the keel; thus cast iron ballast. The magnet attraction was very slight, but never the less there was an attraction. My guess would be the switch from cast to lead occurred shortly after hull number 407.
