Hi Connie, I understand your thinking, but don't forget the electricity produced goes to a bank of batteries. You can hop in go right away and the batteries are recharged while in use. I bought Ballard Industries stock a few years ago and have followed them and the industry for some time. Mercedes is running busses (lots of them) in Germany. Buildings are being run totally with purified diesel fuel. Cell phones, laptop computers, Honda and maybe Toyota will have a fuel cell vehicle for the masses next year. GM has their "Platform car", etc. etc.. The best place for "current info" on the industry is at www.h2fc.com This isn't to say the whole industry could fold and go away if something better comes along. But, the idea of using water to extract hydrogen for use as the fuel to run a cell to recharge batteries is now not only possible... but being done on a daily basis. Problem is that technology is LARGE. Then again, computers, stereos and most electronic gear starts out large and over time is simplified and reduced in size. You may gather I'm hot on fuel cells... And I am. Fuel cells deliver lots of efficiency, produce water vapor & heat as polution (Not counting the battery bank) and someday will likely become a major factor in keeping this planet inhabitable... We'll see. Check out that web site. I used to subscribe to the newsletter, but then I found the info on the web site, is only a couple of weeks old. Since I'm in it for the long haul... a few days isn't critical. Bill
