After losing one of the commercial slugs with a nut to hold it in place overboard, I opted for a simpler and cheaper solution: long S/S cotter keys passing through holes drilled through the aft edge of the mast. Easy to put in place, remove, or replace when one goes swimming. No, my e-mail address is not salacious, it just refers to my last sailboat, "The Old Cat."
