Tom, I have the 110 and a 130 on my M17. I've never used the 130. I used to have a 110 with reef points and I have reefed the main and this jib when sailing on San Francisco Bay. ken ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Jenkins" <tjenk@gte.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2009 2:38 PM Subject: M_Boats: sail inventory
Hello all, I am wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on sail inventory for my 2004 M17. All I inherited from the previous owner is a heavy weather jib with an area of about 55 sq. ft. (85%), and a set of reef points. Being rather old and chastened by harsh experiences, I intend to get a 23 sq. ft. storm jib, but I feel the need for a lighter-air animal as well. The good folks at Elliott/Pattison tell me that the "standard" jib on this boat would have been a 110%, 75 sq. ft. model. I wonder if anyone has used one of these "original equipment" sails (or the equivalent), and if it has proved to be a good all-around tool. Sorry if I am plowing tilled ground, but if this was discussed recently I wasn't paying attention.
Thanks, Tom Jenkins M17 Scintilla _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
