Thanks Jon, I like your style too! I would love to come sail with you. Although I have many years of daysailing and lite cruising under my belt I have practically zero experience racing. Just consider me to be live ballast during the races. My family (wife + 3 grandchildren) and I are booked for a Mexico vacation Feb 7-14. I will try to cash in some points/miles to fly to Phoenix on Feb 16 and rent a car. I might have to stay several days beyond the WICR because of award restrictions but I’ll find something to do. At least that’s the idea right now. Our grandchildren all have mental/emotional issues as a result of FASD. The oldest is going through some meltdowns right now and may cause our plans to change. I’ll certainly let you know if I have to cancel but otherwise Let’s Go Sailing! Gary, thanks for the kind words and for putting this together! Henry is a fine guy - and a good++ sailor to boot!
I am forwarding this mail to Henry - the two of you can make contact and I look forward to seeing BOTH of you here in February!
Hope this works for the two of you.

Re: Crew position
I am arriving without crew. Would be glad to make a berth on my Monty 17 "Ol'44 available. Let it be known my boat is a work in progress and is not what I would consider to be " Highly tuned". Sails are new and if all goes well I will be hanging a new to me Rudder Craft kick up rudder on the transom.
I offer a welcome aboard attitude.
Let's go sailing!

M-15 and S-15 and P-14/15 sailors 2018 WICR
If we have 5 boats in the above noted fleet they will qualifiy for their own scoring/fleet and will not be TLE'd*.
Scoring for the Overall WICR trophy will still be 'low score' for the event - both fleets combined and scored as one.
ALL WrinkleBoats ! (but technically as two fleets) that would be merged for WICR. We would ask for same start time so you are still racing against everyone in the '<17' and '>17' fleets.
*JerryM had an idea ? and since he has so few of those nowadays - I think we ought to use this one! ;>)
Jerry pointed out the 'Time Limit Expired' was an issue for the shorter boats in light air (he really is so thoughtful of you guys!) hence, we will try this - we need 5 or more boats in order to score the 15's as a separate fleet. That will all but eliminate the TLE's for the 15 fleet!
* TLE - Time Limit Expired - Method of keeping the racing start sequence running in a timely manner - It consists of an arbitrary time limit set by the Race Committee (R/C) that cuts off finish time for an individual fleet based on the finish time of the first boat (typically). That first boats finish time starts a clock- added to the finish time is a specified time limit -(usually 20 minutes here in the past) ONLY boats that finish within the TL are scored on' time' (handicap) all others finishing after the TL are assigned a "TLE" score - SOOO if one were to finish 24 minutes after the first place boat you would be scored as a 'TLE' - I believe the same numeric score for all boats finishing after the time expired limit is given as the 'TLE' boats score (I will check - I am not a scoring guru and have been surprised by many a 'tie-breaking decision'!). THIS IS WHY we want to prevent this - it is confusing and not motivating or FUN for the sailors.
5 or more 15's and we have 'heads-up' racing and scoring applied to WICR ! EASY
Don't worry - I have made it sound more confusing (I'm not a great communicator fo' shure!) we will have it all worked out so it is completely transparent and fact checked!!
Have Fun - Go Sailing!
Thank You
