I haven't used multiplait, but have heard good reports of it. Probably a little more complicated to splice than your basic three-strand (easy peazy), but it HAS to be easier than doublebraid (I found that quite tough to do) or parallel core (I gave up trying to splice that) stuff. Multiplait takes up less room and doesn't have the hockling problem of three-strand either. If I were in the market for a new anchor rode, I'd definitely give it a whirl. Tod

I like the 3 strand best for it's elasticity which serves as a nice shock absorber. I use it for my dock lines as well. And it's the easiest for me to splice. I can do 3-4 eyes in 3 strand in the same time it takes me to do one double braid eye splice. Any of you Salty Dogs have experience with 8 strand multi-plait for an anchor rode? All I've ever used is 3 strand Nylon (usually New England Ropes). Multiplait is nifty but I'm a little dubious about its abrasion resistance.
