Started out with a 10yr old 18lb thrust --they don't make it anymore so when it died of old age 5yrs ago I moved up to their newest smallest a 30lb thrust endura C-2 $120 Walmart. If your handling ocean currents I'd go up to the next biggest for the extra poop 40lb or 45. And if your in salt water all the time Id get there salt water version. Even then rinse it off after each trip. Listen up you guys--I've been using a Minkota for 10 years in the San Juan Islands and it is great even in salt water. (not much good into the wind but who
cares then) Stows neatly in cockpit. No ugly motor hanging off back. I discovered that Interstates best --smallest wheel chair battery fits perfectly in Igloo clamshell lunch box $7 and the wires slide under the lid. No
fus no mus. Charges overnight every couple of days. Both are light and easily
handled--great to sneak up on sea life etc. AND 1/8th the cost of Torqueedos and gas. Steve Fitch

I wish the Torqueedo line wasn't so darn pricey. Really like the idea of their
Travel" series with integrated Lithium Manganese battery.

I bought a Minkota 30 pound motor for my Montgomery 15 on line. It works fine.
At power setting of 3 out of 5 it pushes boat just under 3 mph. Maxes out around
4 mph. Used it on Lake Tahoe in fair amount of wind and waves and it worked well. About $100.
