I hooked my handheld to my masthead antenna. Using a friend about 4 miles away, I found out that the handheld transmitted better with the regular antenna instead of the masthead antenna. Later I was told some technical lingo which explained it, but I didn't comprehend it very well. The stationary unit worked excellent at the masthead.
