Hi Scott, Misery loves company, so it is nice to learn that I am not alone with my woes! However, as an engineer, now that I have all this lovely extruded aluminum material on hand that is no longer useable as a mast, there must be some other use for it. Any thoughts? What did you do with the "debris"? Just haul it off to the dump? How about cutting it in 1 foot sections for others to use as a template for mast supports when you put the tarp over the mast in winter? (a support in the cockpit is needed to prevent snow load bending of the mast - at least in Connecticut) Having a template makes the building job a lot easier, rather than guessing at the contour.
