On the subject of towing, my thoughts are that a small vehicle can get a pretty big boat up the ramp (if 4wd) and moving down the highway, but unless the trailer has brakes, getting it stopped in an emergency situation is another matter. I originally pulled my M17 with a Chevy S10, and the tranny gave out at 70,000 miles, and hadn't pulled the boat all that much with it. Could be coincidence, but pulling a load with these light vehicles with geared up trannys is hard on the tranny. You need a cooler at the least. And take it out of overdrive. So go light if you want to, but unless you have a death wish, make sure the trailer has surge brakes and get an oil cooler for the tranny. Having said that, I don't think the M15 is that much of a load for the Honda CRV. The M15 just isn't much of a load, which is one of it's advantages. I currently tow M17 Audasea with a 1989 GMC 3/4 ton Suburban with 454 engine. BIG IRON! Overkill for sure, but you still know it's back there. Even with this rig, the trailer does not have brakes and it will not stop on a dime. You must leave yourself some room to stop. I can't imagine what an emergency stop in a small SUV would be like. Perhaps the anti-lock brakes would help to keep the boat from pushing you around...but with my luck, the brakes would still be "chattering" when I hit what it was I was stopping for. I'm thinking about replacing my old F150 pickup with a small SUV like the Honda CRV (towing capacity 1500#) Has anyone had any experience using small SUV's to tow/launch their M-15?
Also its teak time. I'm sooo confused. Cetol, Teak oil? what to use?
