I really like the Silva model 70UNE on my 15. I have the bracket mounted on top of the sliding hatch and it is easy to read in the cockpit, but not in the way when I want to lean against the bulkhead. Leaning against the bulkhead is my favorite place to sit in a boat. By easy to read I also mean I do not have to put on my bifocals to read it. It slides in and out of the bracket for trailering or to take a hand bearing. It floats. It glows in the dark. There is a black version (70UN) and a racing version (73R), but they do not light up. On a bright sunny day I think it is easier to read black numbers against a white background than vice-versa. I have thought about buying an extra bracket to mount inside the cabin so that I can see how far the boat swings in the middle of the night. I do not understand the current US marketing situation. Some Silva products are sold by Brunton with the Nexus trademark, and some still have the Silva name on them. Also the price for a compass seems to have greatly increased in the last few years.
