Thanks Dave, I'll mount my whisker pole eye somewhat higher than on the original mast to get closer to horizontal. I appreciate the information on the sheet block location; it sounds like the type of adjustment that will take some experience and observing to fully grasp. At least now I know it's something I should be watching and experimenting with as we progress. On Monday, June 24, 2019, 08:54:26 PM EDT, Dave Scobie <scoobscobie@gmail.com> wrote: Gerry. The whisker pole should be close to horizontal. For the 110% working jib the sheet blocks should be just forward of the combing. For the 150% genoa a few 'toerail holes' forward of the sheet winch. (Know that each person has a preference AND the condition of the sails and wind speed will change the sheet block location.) :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred/ On Mon, Jun 24, 2019, 5:41 PM Gerry Lempicki via montgomery_boats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote: Ok we are getting close to launching this boat. I have a few questions before we do. I have some club members that will help with the learning to sail part, but I want to make sure I have the equipment in order. First question; is there a recommended height for the eye on the mast to hold the whisker pole? On the original mast it was 21.5" from the bottom. At this height the pole is at an angle (high at the sail, low at the mast). Should it be horizontal or does it matter? Maybe it's low so anyone can reach it when standing on the cabin floor? Another question; are my jib sheet blocks roughly where they should be on the rail? -Gerry
