Hi Craig, On my M17, I have a locking plug/jack for the DC wiring to the mast and a separate one for the coax. Keep in mind with the VHF radio we are dealing with RF. A coax cable in good condition is necessary for proper reception and transmission, as well as keeping a proper SWR. (standing wave ratio). Almost time to sail in Minnesota.
