Yeah it was Eliot's *The Wasteland* ==> http://eliotswasteland.tripod.com/ Thanks, Steve. Did you attend this year's "Strictly Sail"? It's where I bought my Nissan 4-stroke. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: <s.mcclellan@attbi.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, February 21, 2003 9:05 AM Subject: The Blizzard of '03 Yeah it was Eliot's *The Wasteland* ==> http://eliotswasteland.tripod.com/ Wait and see if you still feel that way on one of those gorgeous April mornings, when spring is clearly here, and you are just itching to get the boat out, but the launching ramps haven't opened up yet. At least, that's how it is in the Chicago area. It's supposed to get to 50 degrees here today -- one of those wonderful freak days we have every so often in the winter. I'd skip work and be out on Lake Michigan today if the Evanston launch ramp were open -- (but I'd still have to dodge those pesky icebergs! Hmm, maybe I can wait a bit longer....) -- Steve McClellan~~M15~#152~~Chicago Area This one missed us here in Michigan, for a change, but we've had our share. Cabin fever is definitely setting in. If it weren't for sailing magazines and MSOG posts, I might be running amok with a hatchet (a-la Kubrik's "The Shining") by now . . . The author (Elliot?) was wrong. April is not the cruelest month. It's February. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Pavuk" <mcpavuk@worldnet.att.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 3:42 PM Subject: Sailing San Diego I'm with you, Connie - here in New Jersey we got 24 inches of snow. I just spent 2 back-breaking days shoveling our driveway. My kids have been home from school all week. My boat is buried in knee-deep snow. I guess spring is coming but it sure is hard wait. Which way to San Diego? Monday we had 20 inches of snow........................ I've just spent two days digging through the Berlin Wall the town snowplows left in front of my driveway so that I could get the car out again. My poor M15 is buried in the snow, and you talk about gentle breezes, sail-up-to-restaurants, and all the nice places one can explore in San Diego harbor. If you are such an M friend, how about unlimbering your snow shovel and giving us poor buried New Englanders a hand? .........but your description of San Diego certainly makes it sound like a lovely sailing area. Wish that I could be there too! Connie M15 #400 LEPPO
