I'm guessing the same rule applies to both tents and sails, Jerry:  Stuffing is better than folding.  Sail lofts might refute this (?) . . .  --Craig, chonshell@ia4u.net

Subject: Folding Sails

Some years ago I purchased a couple of backpacking tents.  The instructions for storing the tents in their bags specified to stuff them in, not fold them first and then put them in the bags.  Their reasoning was that the folds would almost always occur in the same places thereby increasing wear at those places.  That sounded logical to me and I assumed sails in bags could suffer accordingly if folded. So I've been stuffing my sails.  Maybe Dacron and nylon are such different materials that folding the former is not a problem.  Or maybe there are other considerations of which I am not aware?
