Nope, no one mentioned the placement of the knot. Although I have not seen the cb down, I assume the lanyard is affixed towards the leading edge of the cb or near the aft end if cb is up. Several have mentioned that the boat can be sailed safely with the cb up? Do you agree? The former owner had a 100 # lead ingot under the cockpit deck. It was laying on the small crevice just behind the lower end of the cb and right next to the lanyard as it goes down from the deck to the cb cavity. I removed the lead the first time I sailed (only to find out cb would not drop). The lead has nothing to do with the cb. I think the former owner used it for additional ballast because she sailed out of Monterey Bay, California. I do appreciate your information. Since first heavy snow is due here tonight, sailing will probably cease for a few months. Thanks again. Tom
