Hi Gordon,

On my 1985 M15, I have a swivel cam cleat with bullseye that, I don't
know, may have been original equipment. The stainless plate to which
both the cleat and bullseye are attached has bent down, resulting in
more effort (more leaning down) to secure the mainsheet when I need to
do so. I've bent the ss plate up a couple of times but you can only bend
ss so much before it will break.

For a visual, the my current hardware looks very much like the Harken
model 240 (look on Defender).

Rather than replace with a new 240, after talking with a Harken rep I
have decided for the purposes you mentioned, to go with a combo ratchet
block and angled cam swivel base.

Prbably something like the Harken #1235 ratchet block attached to the
#144 swivel cam cleat. This will should only provide a better angle of
control for the skipper, but also more purchase in ratcheting in the
main under sporting conditions and close points of sail. All it takes is
money :-(

What say the rest of you M15 sailors? Any other ideas?
