I use one modification to Wayne's system. I run the line from the jib halyard, through the block on the stem fitting, then aft to the sheet winch, and "grind" it up. Not much lifting involved this way, and once it's up, you just cleat if off. Then move forward to pin the forestay. Coming down, you reverse it. Get two wraps on the sheet winch, and the line firm and cleated off, then go forward to pull the pin on the forestay. Then back to the cockpit where you start letting some line slip on the winch. It comes down slowly and in control, with you in the cockpit ready to receive it as it passes from vertical to horizontal. Seawitch? Say it ain't so! Howard
