Hi Ray. That is the bilge. The M15/17 and Sage 17 all have one. (For reasons Jerry can't explain there are a few 17s that don't have one ...) Usually any water that gets in there comes from condensation or H2O that may come into the cabin, say from someone stepping below the wet shoes, rain gear, or after swimming. Use a sponge and get the last bit out. See if it comes back after the next sail. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sailboatswallow.wordpress.com/ :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Sat, Apr 13, 2024, 12:20 Rimantas Aukstuolis <raukstuolis1@gmail.com> wrote:
Dave Still have my Montgomery 15 and have sailed it several times in Lake Erie last summer. Getting it ready for this season, I noticed water (been there all winter) in a slot I haven't noticed before underneath the cockpit just aft of what looks like the top of a centerboard box/ structure thru which the rope to hoist the certerboard passes as well as the cockpit drain. Slot looks to be about 6-8" wide and maybe a foot or two long. What is that slot, should it be open and why is there water in it? The boat has been buttoned up in a garage all the time.
