If one uses replaceable LED packed light bulb sockets you have the benefit of the low-draw LED and the convenience of easy replacement WITHIN the fixture. I am sure the LED "bulb socket hybrid" may not necessarily be as light output effective due to output or diffusion. LED bulb socket hybrids have been used for years in the auto market (after-market). If they can be replaced without replacing fixture - sounds like a winner to me! If not - I am for good old school incandescents on the trailer. And electrically disconnect the vehicle from the trailer when immersing the trailer. GO. LB/GF! M-17 # 316a 'that ain't bad gelcoat -it's "patina"!
