I have a 4 h/p Mercury long shaft (made by Tohatsu). Bought it new in '07. Had some break-in (idling) issues but they were quickly resolved under warranty. Since then it runs great. Plenty of power for San Francisco Bay. Has a hook-up the for an external tank (which makes life easier). So far so good. Jim M17 "Spirit" On Apr 25, 2010, at 11:52 AM, Joe Murphy wrote:
I have a Tohatsu 4stroke 6hp with the long shaft. I've not been disappointed even last fall in opposing strong winds and current trying to get to Ocracoke. Plenty of power to spare. It weighs 54 lbs which isn't bad for a 6 horse. My Monty friends, I need a new OB for my M-17 "Little Breeze". Presently I have an unreliable 4hp Nissan. Because we sail mostly on the Columbia River we need to be able to buck the current at times. Can I get a recommendation from all you M-17 sailors. Thanks, Arnold Sharpe
