Bruce, I'm sure the gin pole works fine, but I can fasten my 4-part tackle to the stem fitting and raise the mast from the cockpit alone, once I get it on my shoulder. Like as not it would be easier to attach the tackle to the forward mast carrier and jib halyard, and raise the mast from an adjustable mast crutch in the stern, but I like the option of raising the mast off the trailer. By the way, if you happen to see Eldor driving down the road, he has a nice adjustable crutch, and IdaSailor has one "off the shelf" that mounts on the rudder. Has anyone used or have a supplier for a part to use the boom forward of the mast as a gin pole in raising the mast on an M17? I have a wood one I use but the setup is a pain and would like to use the boom instead. thanks, bruce.
