For us, there is always a health issue that controls when we are able to participate in events like the Poker Run. I will watch the forums as the event gets closer and hope for a period of remission for the old lady I have hung around with for the past 47 years. I think we would really enjoy the event if she is up to it. If you were giving prizes at the event for the oldest Montgomery, Griselda (M17 #14) would be a likely contender. She is one of the rare (only 20 built) fin/bulb keel M17s and was built in January 1974. She tends to be stiffer, closer winded and quicker than the keel/CB Montys we have run up against. Whitebeard M17 #14, Griselda

Wow, August is already upon us! That's hard to believe but it is. Time to start planning for the 2010 Havasu Pocket Cruiser's Poker Run (if we are gonna do it again). It's up to you guys. This is a friends and family oreinted sailing get together. Pampered winter sailing , if you will. Great for bringing along the "admiral". Sleep in warm hotel beds. No need to cook onboard or deal with anchoring out. Daysailing at it's best. Nothing hard core here. Just a few days of sailboats and friendships. Escape the winter blues!
For the last two years we have hosted this trailer sailor event here in Lake Havasu City, AZ during the month of February in order to get folks a winter time sailing "FIX". I think the first year we had something along the likes of 13 boats participate and last year the number shot up to 20. The event is 3 to 4 days long. It usually includes about a 15 mile long(each way) sail down the length of Lake Havasu. Along the way crews participated in a Poker Run style event that prizes were awarded for at the Saturday night group dinner. Last year's sponsors included Small Craft Advisor Magazine, Idasailor, Cruising Supplies.com, and Montgomery Boats. You can check out a photo and video journal of the whole 2009 event at: _http://havasumontgomerys.piczo.com/?g=42325893&cr=1_ (http://havasumontgomerys.piczo.com/?g=42325893&cr=1) So, the question is....Is there interest in doing it again and would you be willing to make the trip to Lake Havasu City, AZ to attend? Please let me know, as if we are going to do it again, the prepwork needs to start pretty soon. I would love to host the event again and grow it even more. I think we can probably get even more sponsor's interested if enough interest is shown. I think that this year we would probably base the entire event out of Lake Havasu City rather then overnighting at Havasu Springs down south on the second night. That way we could work a package deal at one of the hotels on the water to include your room, meals, and maybe even a slip if we used the London Bridge Resort on the Channel under the London Bridge. If you are willing to come, I'm willing to put it together. So...what do you guys say? **************A bad credit score is 600 & below. Checking won't affect your score. See now!
