Wayne,
It's a suction cup transom mount. You have to stick it down as low as possible, next to the rudder on the starboard side. Works very well, except when really healed to port.
I really like it. Having the cable snake through the cockpit requires a little caution, but it's long enough to set the display unit inside the cabin, if desired. I can dig it out of the cabin locker and have it set up and running in a minute or so.

MC. I use a Hummingbird Pirhana 1 fish finder for depth. The manufacturer says it will run 40 to 60 hours on a set of (8, I think) AA batteries. I ran through a couple of sets before I learned to unplug the cable to the battery holder. When you close it up, it can push the switch to the "on" position. I don't think I've replaced plain old worn out batteries yet. In 2 seasons.
It isn't shown in the West catalog, but I bought mine from them on special order for $115. It looks like the Piranha 4 shown on page 119 of the 2003 WM Master catalog.
A depth finder on a 15 is really unnecessary, but it's fun to learn about the water you're sailing in. I like it a lot.
