Peter: I've owned and cruised on both the M15 and M17. M15 is easier to rig (as many have stated) and the vberth is much more comfortable than the M17. Using the potty is also easier on the M15. M17 is more comfortable in cabin and more storage. My longest cruise on the M15 was 9 days. I spent 2.5 months on my M17. For shorter than a couple of weeks the M15 is hard to beat. M17 works better for couples and when going for more that a couple of weeks. :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com On Sat, Nov 10, 2018, 11:26 AM Peter Zimowsky via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com wrote:
Hi: I’ve been debating getting a bigger boat but I love my M15 for ease of stepping the mast, launching and sailing solo. The only thing I would like is a larger living space for cruising the San Juan Islands. So we’re talking about sailing solo in the M15 about 30 days at my home reservoir and then 7 days in the San Juans. Is it worth going to a larger boat for those seven days? And, is an M17 easy to handle solo? Thanks for the input. There’s always a debate among sailors about going to a larger boat. Good winds,
