Larry, I have seen composite wood used for guide boards and bunks but don't think it would be good as a bunk material. The 'wood/plastic' composites are too slippery for bunks and don't have enough compressive strength to support between uprights for the bunks. No need for carpet on the guide boards - composite or 'real' wood - they should not mar the gelcoat. (I oil mine with tung oil for water protection - painted boards will mark up the boat) Practice your rigging/breakdown skills by going sailing often. Just a matter of practice and simple organizational skills. It will get easier and faster with experience. Good luck & enjoy the boat! GO
