M_Boats: Epoxy and fibreglass repair below waterline

I have just finished doing a epoxy and fibreglass repair below the waterline were my stop pin ripped out of the side of the keel from lowering the centreboard too swiftly last summer. I believe Dave Scobie talked about a tie coat after a repair, before bottom paint but is it necessary over an epoxy repair? One more tin of paint which I would rather not have sitting on my shelf if I don't need it.
