Jerry, I think the List would love to hear about your trip. Most of the group enjoys a vicarious trip. Some locations for a fixed mount radio- Starboard area above quarterberth at the bottom forward interior edge of the cockpit seat. (glue wood mount board to bottom interior side of seat and screw bracket to wood) Area at opposite side of the boat -Port side above the aft end of galley, bottom of interior side of cockpit seat as far forward as possible - both are relatively close to the companionway so you can hear the unit in many cases - if sound is not great consider an external speaker - need not be 'permanently' mounted in the cockpit - use a good set of connectors and locate the radio head were it is suitable to your needs bearing in mind the accepted location is to be able to stand near companionway/cockpit and operate the radio. Just an opinion - If you are down in FL. and using a deck mount antenna- consider a SS antenna mount instead of the more affordable nylon (disintegrates in UV model)- nothing like waving an 8 foot 'wand' with one hand while trying to transmit in a 'stressful situation'. :>) Have Fun, Go Sailing go M-17 sail # 354 'Hot Tuna' watch here for info on the: '2013 WrinkleBoat Intergalactic Championship Regatta & RanTan*' January 11-13 @ Lake Pleasant Arizona All Lyle Hess and Montgomery Designs welcome and encouraged. * In 2012 the 'trial event' consisted of a bunch of 'geezers' and Dorothy, racing mainly M-17's - we want to expand the lineup to include the other boats some call 'Jerry's Kidz' , WrinkleBoats sm, etc. -including but not limited to: dinghies,M-15's, M-17's, M-23's, Sage's, Panther's, Fatty Knees, and ALL others that fit the Hess/Montgomery criteria !
