I would really appreciate some advice on the methods of repair for my centerboard trunk... I was really fortunate to make contact with a past owner of my boat (He sold to the fellow I purchased from) and shared that in approx 2009 the tang broke off and had it welded up to size. He suggested I have the shackle replaced with a shorter one and have the pennant property spliced on. The knot is responsible for the damage to the centerboard trunk and suggested repair and to have a "sleeve" put on it to keep the water from spurting up through the hole. I plan to have her bottom painted and will have the centerboard dropped and inspected. I would really like to understand what might be necessary in terms of repairs by seasoned Montgomery owners. I hope that some of these repairs I can learn to do myself. This past owner did not have problems with centerboard/rust and I am hoping this is still the case...she was not inspected when I purchased from out of state. Thank you!
