I have continued with my refit. If you recall one of the issues is water infiltrating my hull and filling my storage lockers in the cabin. Well I followed Connie's suggestion and sealed up the cabin and pressurised it and then put high-tech bubble stuff on the likely spots trying to find where water was infiltrating my hull. No luck. Couldn't find a leak anywhere -- no signs of bubbling. Interestingly enough, however, water did come out at the leading edge of the keel where there is a crack. I had opened this up a couple weeks agon and water had drained out but had stopped. Today it resumed -- after I pressurized the cabin. Never got any bubbling -- but the water was coming out. Go figure. Anyway my plan is to epoxy up all the cracks I can find and hope for the best. I also sanded down the centerboard -- lots of dings from over the years. I will re-fair and paint this. I have also begun taking the old, ugly bottom paint off. Nasty work that. Fortunately I have a good respirator. Lots of blue dust flying around -- I ended up looking like a smurf afterwards... I have also received new standing rigging that I ordered from Jerry. Now I will feel more confident in heavy weather -- especially when up on Lake Superior with my two daughters. Will keep you all informed of the progress. I will take pictures later. John Hippe M-15 Jester
