M_Boats: what is up with Boston, MA?

We just arrived for a long weekend in Boston and have found that none of the sailboat rental places are in the water yet. All of the places I called said boating season doesn't start until at least May. ???? My wife and I are out on Puget Sound in December in full foul weather gear and snow...and we have to dodge the numerous other sailboats out at that time of year...why are Bostonians such wimps? If any of you know of a rental place that is already open for business in MA, NH or RI, please post asap, as it is supposed to be fairly good weather tommorow also (today was at least 60 degrees, sunny, with a 10 to 15 knot breeze). thanks, Rick
