Rich, I think what you describe could have happened to anybody, so no need for self-denigration. I have been following this knockdown thread with interest. I have to admit that I have probably been a little too complacent about such a possibility. There is something about the M15 that lulls you into thinking that it is a bigger, heavier boat. I have even tied off the tiller and gone below for a moment while under sail! Maybe an occasional start like you experienced would remind me that the boat is only a little heavier than a dinghy! I am wondering whether anyone has had a similar (knockdown) experience on an M17?? It would be interesting to know whether the increased sail area of the M17 is countered by the more than double displacement, as well as 14" more beam. Scott, M15 #478 'bebe'
