Neil, did you have any photos of your mainsail halyard system that I could view? The stainless plate to which both the cleat and bullseye are attached has bent down, resulting in more effort (more leaning down) to secure the mainsheet when I need to do so. I've bent the ss plate up a couple of times but you can only bend ss so much before it will break. For a visual, the my current hardware looks very much like the Harken model 240 (look on Defender). Rather than replace with a new 240, after talking with a Harken rep I have decided for the purposes you mentioned, to go with a combo ratchet block and angled cam swivel base. Prbably something like the Harken #1235 ratchet block attached to the #144 swivel cam cleat. This will should only provide a better angle of control for the skipper, but also more purchase in ratcheting in the main under sporting conditions and close points of sail. All it takes is money :-( What say the rest of you M15 sailors? Any other ideas?
