Neil, I haven't sailed Lake Chelan, but I canoed up it about 30 years ago. We launched at 25 mile creek and there were nice campgrounds with docks all along the west shore heading up the lake. I talked to a guy a while back who sailed there a lot and it sounded like it can be a challenge. It's a long narrow mountain lake and the winds can get pretty strong as they funnel up the lake. He also spoke of vertical winds coming down off the mountains that can knock you over and hold you down. But it is beautiful! Larry Y On Thu, 18 Feb 2010 19:26:14 -0000 ndorf@surfbest.net writes:
I was looking into summer sailing up at Lake Chelan, cruising up to Steheiken and camping ashore along the way. Anyone done that? Can anyone comment as to how is the sailing, and how many days would be needed to go there and back at a casual pace?
