Rick, I kinda went down the same road you did. The rigging on the 23 is LARGE for sure. I looked for any rust around where the rigging is swaged, swollen connectors, frayed wires (meathooks), bent toggles, and corrosion around where the stainless tangs are bolted to the mast. Finding none, I went with it. I'm not saying that's the right thing,,,,just what I did. I did replace the bridle lines for the split backstay as they were plastic covered, the plastic was cracking and rust stained. Needless to say, I did not replace them with plastic covered wire. Bare wire allows me to see what's going on better. I would suggest checking all those chainplate bolts and possibly reseating the chainplates in bedding. Mine were loose and needed it. Also, I removed and re-bedded the mast tabernacle. She's looking great!!! You're gonna be sailing before you know it!!! Keep up the great work and updates!
