Hi folks, I called the owner to inquire: It does not have a trailer. He doesn't have a computer; no digital pics. He seemed nice enough, although when I asked if he had any photos, he said "Well, you can look on the Monty web site, it looks just like any other 23." I was a bit non-plussed at that, but did talk with him a bit more. Things he mentioned: 1) Stbd settee has been converted to more galley space 2) Centerboard was bolted in down position by previous owner (sticking problems). 3) Good sails 4) Good motor 5) All of the interior wood (bulkeads, trim, etc.) was painted white by previous owner (sob...). 6) Boat lives in the water in Olympia, Washington, so does have some kind of bottom paint. I lost a bit of enthusiasm, but only because it didn't sound like something I could deal on over the phone, as I suspected possible ballast corrosion, wondered about the paint job, etc. That's not to say it might not be a fantastic boat - and I'd love an M-23 - but for me it didn't sound like an "I'll take it sight unseen" kind of purchase, and I kind of assumed that if it was in great shape, someone nearby would snap it up before I had a chance to do my long-distance stuff; and if it was a big project, it would be difficult for me to deal with as it has no trailer and is at the top of my price range. I hope the seller won't mind that I passed this along (and of course I have not SEEN the boat), but I feel a loyalty to the list (this is my "oldest" list - my having joined somewhere around 1998). Hope it works out for someone! (Kind of wish it'd be me :-) --- Rachel Strangely, the other boats I'm considering are a Bristol 27 or a Bolger Birdwatcher -- how's that for a wide range of types :-)
