Just returned from da U.P., Keith/David . . . Unfortunately, I am a troll, but I know where the sailin's good . . . I tried to launch in Munising after a circle tour of Lake Superior (entered the enchanted land of Canada through St. Sault Marie, drove through Lake Superior Provincial to Lake Nipigon, a phenomenal HUGE remote wilderness lake up above Thunder Bay . . . Proceeded around through Minnesota, Wisconsin, into the U.P. East and back to the Lower Peninsula), but conditions were too rough, with an Easterly storm moving through . . . Live in Lansing and Sail Muskegon Lake/Lake Michigan (in West Michigan) . . . I know of no other Montys in Michigan save mine . . . And, yes, I did have the requisite pastie at Cunningham's in Mackinaw City . . . And whitefish in foil at Abner's in American Sault is about as good as it gets . . . Did the Les Chenaux's in 2001, and hope to do the North Channel soon (Tod Mills can share a thing or two about that Great Lakes paradise) . . . Would like to read more about others' Great Lakes experiences here on the list, because I honestly believe we're blessed to sail in some of the most spectacular cruising grounds in the world. Did the Apostles rendezvous happen and I missed the glowing after-posts, or is it still pending? --Craig Honshell, M17 hull #389, Charlotte, MI resident, West Michigan sailor, Great Lakes fanatic and Flicka 20' co-owner . . . p.s., Probably live within 20 min. of you, David, so I'd love to see that wood Swifty . . . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Diehl" <kdiehl@xmission.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004 2:22 PM Subject: New Memeber We'll have to work a deal to send me same pasties! In any event, it looks as if I'll learn plenty in here. I am currently living in the Lansing, Michigan area, but I consider Marquette to be home (You know, Michiganian by birth; Yooper, by the grace of God!).
