Nylon cable ties deteriorate within a season or so of UV and I have to keep replacing them. Is there some simple and obvious replacement that I'm missing? (Decorative rope work is not an option here!)

There are UV resistant tie-wraps/cable-ties available. They tend to be black rather than white or translucent (though not all black versions are UV resistant--check labeling). Scott M15 #478 'bebe' Flicka (unnamed)
