Hi, For your cooler you might try 'Evercoat Professional Sealant Foam'. It is a Polyurethane Resin with a propellant in a pressurized 12 Oz can. It claims to be waterproof, closed cell, sandable and easy to cut and paint. It adheres to everything except Teflon, Polyethylene and Silicone. It has an insulation value of R 5. It used to be available at West Marine, I don't know if they still sell it. It is easy to remove by cutting and scraping. Good luck with your cooler!
