Nick, Sorry to hear you had to leave such a wonderful sailing area. Cape Cod and the Islands have some of the best sailing (nice winds) and cruising on the East Coast. http://bbs.trailersailor.com/forums/montgomery/index.cgi/#268 I put a couple of pictures on the Montgomery forum of the trailer sailors bulletin board of our Buzzards Bay cruise from 2006. Without those steady sea breezes you will love the light air performance of the Montgomery 15 or 17. I just joined the mailing list and I'd like to introduce myself properly. My name is Nick and though I don't own a Montgomery yet, I'd like to. All of my sailing so far has been in and around Cape Cod. Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay. Lots of currents, lots of ledges and rocks in the passages or " holes " connecting the two. Oh, and did I mention fog. Plenty of exciting sailing. Now I'm living in Fredonia, New York, and Lake Erie and the rest of the Great Lakes will be a new sailing adventure. I like the sea worthiness of the Montgomery's. No where have I come across anyone reporting a Montgomery capsizing and turning turtle, unlike some of the other small trailerables. The heavy ballast makes for a stiff boat but yet a speedy one in light airs. The best of both worlds. I especially like that they have a reputation for sailing close to the wind and still making good time. I've been looking at and comparing small boats for two years now and I've got my heart set on a Montgomery. But first I have to do something about that Nimble I bought on a whim and haven't even sailed yet. Life is never simple. This owners group by the way is a great resource and all the more reason to become a Montgomery owner. I’m looking forward to meeting some you on the East coast this coming season. I hope to be sailing a Monty by then. Fair tide and a steady breeze, Nick _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
