Fixing that old, too-small sail to fit a bigger boat would cost more than buying a new one ready made. It'd be asking a tailor to alter a size 36 suit-jacket fit a size 48 man. It's not practical. A fine boat like an M15 deserves a properly fitted and constructed suit of sails. Surely a sail maker could easily sew 2 ft onto your short sail. I had the same experience when I bought a Compac 16 from a fellow who sailed exclusively on Chesapeake Bay. I suppose he wanted a sail with a permanent “reef”. RTH.
