From that description I bet you get a good amount of water. I have an idea brewing for a fix to mediate the issue. Can you share a picture?

Also my winch is to the right of the cleat, so the line has to go over the cleat and then down through the hole.
The water doesn't drain anywhere, just sits on the sole and tries to rot the wood at the base of the v berth. So I towel it out.
