I've used a 55-lbs thrust Minn Kota . . . Good for getting into and out of the slip/dock, but not much good for motoring w/out wind: Eats too much power for decent range . . . And others have expressed dismay at lack of power against wave action . . . Good way to take a fume-free daysail, but not good viable auxiliary power . . . No solar panel will recharge at the rate a trolling will cause the battery to discharge . . . I have an M17 . . . 55-lbs thrust didn't move the boat terribly effectively, but it worked . . . ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Thomason" <thomasond2@michigan.gov> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, July 10, 2004 12:06 PM Subject: Auxiliary Power Has anyone installed an electric trolling motor on their Monty? If so, what HP & size boat. Any consideration towards using a solar panel for recharging? I'd like to eliminate the danger & smell of the fuel, as well as enforce a zone of silence about me. ;-)
