Folks often I have 4-5" diameter loops made of 1/8" lifeline cable in the clews of 100-150% jibs. They can be used to set the whisker pole jaws. I have rings in the clew of my 150% jib on one boat, and the 135% on the other. I use them mostly in light winds and lumpy seas, because it keeps the genny poled with better stability of shape. I would suggest caution using them in higher winds or challenging conditions unless I had a line controlled pole. The pole can become a projectile when it's fixed to the clew. I don't use them in high winds; it's potentially dangerous and I'm obsessively prudent. I had my rig shop swage some onto the clew. At the clew of the jib of the boat in the foreground there is what looks like a small (6"-8") loop of cable through the grommet along with the jib sheets. Does anyone know what that loop is for? I thought maybe to keep jib sheets from hanging up on the mast, like mine do, of perhaps an easy way to attach a whisker pole? M15 #200, Wee Fun
