Jerry, That's just what I want it for. I race regularly with a cruising club (PRHF rating 294), and need all the help I can get. I'd like to have the track where it is now but be able to haul the traveler to windward using a line 'ready to hand' when sitting on the high side. I like to keep the boom pretty well centered even in a good breeze. Am I doing it right? That way he can tend to the mainsheet himself. The real value of the roller traveller is so that he can move it to weather in light air to bring the boom closer to the center without oversheeting, to allow some twist in the main. Very important upwind, and a secret weapon of sorts. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rich Makela" <richmak@makelaperformance.com> To: "'John Davies'" <jdavies104@gmail.com>; "'For and about Montgomery Sailboats'" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2011 10:41 AM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Replacing Main sheet system > John, > > I did exactly that on my 1977 vintage M-17, and it works fine.
