M_Boats: Boom dimensions

Jerry, I have a stock boom on my Monty 17 but moved the mainsheet strap about half way forward from the aft end to afford a front of the cockpit mainsheet traveler. Now I have gone to a loose footed main which I see puts all the strain on the boom out at the aft end and the downward force in applied somewhere near the middle of the boom by the mainsheet. Am I treading on this ice with this setup in a good blow such that I could collapse the boom? Sailing in Rockport, Tom B.
