thanks for sharing robbin. GREAT to see a classic being given TLC. i spent most of yesterday standing on my head doing some electrical work and beginning the process of removing the bow pulpit and transom hardware for rebedding. tomorrow morning the plan is to use a friend's young, and small, son to crawl to the transom on the starboard 1/4-berth to assist in removing the lat of the the motor mount's nuts. :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 - SWEET PEA - www.m17-375.webs.com :: Sage Marine - www.sagemarine.us --- On Sat, 3/26/11, robbin roddewig <robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> wrote:
All, work is picking back up on restoration work on my new to me '78 M-23. It was a bit cold here yesterday but I spent the day working on my boat. Of course a day working on my boat is always better than a day working on work! Please see the updates as I pry off the gummy winches and make the last preparation before center board install at https://picasaweb.google.com/110938325409185510143/M23?authkey=Gv1sRgCJqUgPz...
Not seen here is the center board winch refurb including new center board halyard and special order D shackle (no snag from Suncor) but I will try and get some more snap shots. I still have along list before she hits the water. I am adding coats of varnish to the rudder, need to have someone that knows rigging inspect the mast at Annapolis Rigging and I have a replacement for the motor mount to install. Oh and I almost forgot the six coats of barrier coat and some anti fouling. I also need to remove and caulk all the deck hardware as the season goes on and seal or replace the port lights. I did find the holding tank, marine battery and through hull connection to empty the tank? (Didn't think they allowed dumping like that, I am sure they do not in the Chesapeake Bay). I was contemplating replacing the through hull but it looks like there is a valve on the through hull. I am guessing that I could put off replacing this for a season but I am not sure. Does anyone know how one determines whether replacement is warranted?
