However even the electrolosis of the water is not without danger to the environment since I understand that the oxygen byproduct can get grabbed by carbon and form the greenhouse gas CO2. Using solar power for direct electrolosis requires a polluting power outlay in the manufacture of vast numbers of solar panels. Perhaps using mirrors and a boiler would be the least polluting way to provide the furnace power for cell manufacture. No free lunch! Dick
