All Montgomery and Sage Sailboats are invited to the 2016 WrinkleBoat Intergalactic Championship Regatta - January 15-17 @016 at Lake Pleasant Arizona - (30 miles NW of Phoenix/Scottsdale) Racing, Sailing, Dinners, meet the designer of your boat, See the NEW SAGE Cat 15, - this is the first Leukemia Cup Regatta of the new Year - your fleet has been a strong supporter of the event in the past regattas! For those that have sailed here with us - we hope to see you again - It is one of the high points of my sailing calendar! The sailors who have not been to a 'WICR' are missing a great group of WrinkleBoat sailors gathering annually - the beginnings of the event (AzYC Birthday Regatta and wrinkleboats) goes back to the 1970's ! We have - impromptu tech sessions, Cahlk talks for trim or racing or? - Dinners at roadhouse bars with great chili-size! The AzYC Birthday Party and raffles, video of the days sailing, partying. All this in the middle of the desert in January - No Snow, only had a bit of ice once years ago , typically shirt sleeve weather under sunny skies for sailing. The Regatta typically attracts 75-90 boats from all over the country - Our fleet is separate usually around 12 +/- boats and not a 'gnashing teeth type racing group' - laidback is the fashion. We are in It for the fUn ! We score racing results by size of boat - 15' and under, and 17' and over - scoring for those who care is using D-PN Portsmouth Ratings. Overall Champion , Individual Fleet awards 3 deep, Travel Award and a Surprise Award are there for sailors - the event specializes in interesting /unique and very desirable awards. Rubber Chickens are distributed if you don't have one!
