As part of a rehab, try to twist the aluminum pipes used as thru hulls either with your hand or a strap wrench. Mine both came right out by hand. Gulp. Somehow the aluminum had corroded where it met the fiberglass so had no chemical bond whatever. Only friction from aluminum oxide. I plan to use a shower drain, they have a sharp bend so as to fit beneath the shower pan and above the concrete floor, which will allow them to drain overboard above the waterline. If you have a boat with the molded in aluminum tubing drain - many would recommend replacement of the tube prior to installing the valve - sea cock - for safe install. These boats were not meant to sail the 'Seven' as delivered - but with modifications much is possible. {:>) Don't forget your emergency plugs/bungs - (I like a couple corks of suitable size too).

GO WARNING - sailing is an inherently dangerous sport - that is one of the reasons I enjoy it - sitting here typing is not particularly stimulating OR relaxing - BE SAFE. gone sailing!

I don't know what the industry standard was in 1976 but today any through-hull below the "maximum heeled waterline" (which for a sailboat is the sheer line at midships) should have a seacock.

car keys ! That is what I was once told by a 'boat designer' is the real use for the sink!?!!
I agree with Dave - winch handles, spares, it's the glove box of the boat.

Nice breezes here - going sailing in the morning.
